What will the Fall 2020 semester look like?
Our courses will be a mix of fully online and real time classes. We do not require the students to be on campus for any portion of the fall semester. Note we do not have an exam week, given that the courses are self-contained.
Will there be any one-on-one opportunity with instructors?
Students will be assigned a faculty mentor and will have an opportunity weekly to meet via zoom or phone for discussions.
What is being done to ensure the safety of students and staff while on campus?
BCIT has increased the frequency of our cleaning services across all our campuses, including high-frequency areas such as classrooms and office areas. Some courses require on-campus learning in unique labs. In these classes, we will practice social distancing of 2 metres as advised by the Provincial Health Officer and we will ensure increased frequency of cleaning services in these areas. We are also installing Plexiglass dividers and will have PPE on-hand within the Broadcast building to ensure student safety in areas where physical distancing cannot be maintained. You can read more about BCIT’s COVID-19 Response here.
How can I be sure I’m getting the same quality educational experience?
Our teaching environments will look different from previous years, but the quality of instruction, and commitment of our faculty and staff will be as strong as ever. Students’ valuable learning experiences will continue. By combining teaching, learning, and service delivery methods in adaptive and meaningful ways, we will ensure that our students’ academic progress can continue, and the necessary learning supports will be in place.
