Statistics Canada released the report “Canadian consumers adapt to covid-19″ on Monday May 11. Data showed a 40% increase in alcohol sales in grocery stores as Canadians stayed home during the covid-19 lockdown.

Stephanie Walker, co-owner of the local pop up wine bar Vin Van Wine says she has personally seen an increase in business inquiries. Vin Van Wine is a bi-weekly pop up wine bar and supper club series that features small batch, organic, local and international wine with food pairings.

“We have had more questions from people wanting to stock up on wine” Stephanie Walker, small business owner

Walker is one of many small business owners in Vancouver that has been affected from covid-19 shutdowns. However, as Phase 2 of BC’s Restart Plan goes ahead, she says she is looking forward to see Vancouverites and community partners come together again.

Walker says covid-19 has affected her business and community, but is confident that the future is bright. Hear more in our For the Record interview.
