63 Canadians Dead in Plane Crash in Iran

A plane en-route from Tehran, Iran to Kyiv, Ukraine crashed shortly after takeoff at Iran’s capital airport on Wednesday.

All 176 people on board have died, including 63 Canadians. A family from Vancouver, as well as an international student at Langara College were among those onboard.

One person dead after shooting near Parliament in Ottawa

One person has died, and three more are in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting near the Parliament buildings in Ottawa this morning.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted and are asking people to stay clear of the area. Police are still searching for the suspect.

Coquihalla to close for avalanche control

Drive BC says that sections of the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt will be shut down for avalanche control.

The closures will take place between 11am and 3pm today, between Exit 202 and Exit 228, covering about 25 kilometres. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes during the closure.

Highway 3 is currently closed due to a high avalanche hazard between West Avalanche Gate and East Avalanche Gate for 18.0 kilometres. It is expected to re-open at 6pm.
