WestJet Airlines to be sold to Onex Corp, for 5 billion dollars

WestJet Airlines  to be sold to Onex Corporation for 5 billion Dollars 

Onex Corporation signed a deal to buy WestJet Airlines for 5 billion dollars.

Under the agreement, Onex will pay 31 dollars per share and will continue to operate as a private company.

The deal is expected to close in late 2019 or early 2020.

Wildfire east of Kamloops is being held

British Columbia’s wildfire season has sparked up earlier than expected.

A nineteen-hectare blaze near Kamloops is currently burning but is considered being held.  Helicopters are assisting firefighters on the ground.

According to BC wildfire Service, there are no threats to buildings in the area.

Crews are also guarding a fire that scorched 236 hectares East of Fraser Lake.

Officials say the Fraser Lake fire was 70 percent guarded but zero percent contained. Residents in the area were forced to evacuate while surrounding home are on evacuation alert.

Legendary Hollywood star Doris Day dies at 97

Doris Day, known for films like Pillow talk, That touch of mink, and her song, Que sera, sera,” has died from pneumonia at the age of 97.

She began her career as a big band singer in 1939, her first hit recording being “Sentimental Journey” in 1945 with Les Brown & His Band of Renown. Later on, started her solo career recorded more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967

The Hollywood actress and singer was a top star in the 1950’s and 60’s.

She spent the last part of her life as a strong animal advocator.
