For the April 10th edition of For the Record, I spoke with Alyssa Laube who is one of the founders and directors of Vancouver’s first Glitter Ball Festival.
Laube’s business partner is Mady Cormier and together they manage Cushy Entertainment.
Glitter Ball is a local music festival which will focus on shining a spotlight on diverse musicians within the city. It will focus on artists who identify as cist women and other genders.
The festival will take place on May 4th and 5th. Day one will showcase local R&B, hip hop, and rap acts. Day two will showcase local rock, punk, and indie music.
The proceeds from Glitter Ball will, in part, go to WISH Centre Drop-In Society, a non-profit based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside which provides safe spaces and resources for female-identifying sex workers.
