“I think the first game we had a lot of really good moments, we had a few defensive breakdowns. You know I feel like that’s going to happen when you’re playing with an entirely new team.”
It’s been quite the off-season for the Vancouver Whitecaps. After a tumultuous end to last year’s campaign that saw the firing of head coach Carl Robinson and the departure of many key players including former captain Kendall Waston, management took the initiative to turn a new leaf quickly.
The new-look Whitecaps have 14 new players, including the return of goal-scorer Fredy Montero, and a new head coach in Marc Dos Santos.
However, it seems like it will take some time for the new players to gel together according to defender Jake Nerwinski. The Whitecaps have lost all three of their games so far this season.
Nerwinski is entering his third season with the team after being taken in the first round of the 2017 MLS Draft. Although the team is hopeful for what they can accomplish, the defender was adamant that it will take some time for the team to get on the same page.
