For the Record – Could you go one week without producing waste?

Jenny Cameron – February 4, 2019

Last week, Brittney Fritter challenged herself to not overfill a 500ML jar with garbage she would normally toss into a garbage bin. She says, this personal investigation helped her become more aware of what she throws into the garbage and what she can change to minimize it. She recognizes everyone’s garbage must go somewhere and says it is important to be aware of this.

“By 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than there will be fish.” – Brittney Fritter.

Fritter says she has had a passion for a greener lifestyle and recycling for many years, which has led her to check out recycle depots and research various issues so she becomes aware of the issues that are currently impacting our planet.

Although the goal of the week was to not overfill the jar with garbage, Fritter says she has become more aware of the bigger issues – whether that be raising awareness to plastic pollution in BC or bigger initiatives that can be taken from this week-long challenge. What can you do to help produce less waste?
