For the Record – Canadian Olympic rower wants to see growth in the sport

Graham Cox – Nov. 6, 2018

In this episode of For The Record, I am joined by Canadian Olympic rower and Vancouver local Maxwell Lattimer.

Max began rowing back in high school, but didn’t get truly serious about the sport until his university days. As part of a lightweight four team dubbed the “northern lights,” he won gold at the 2015 Pan Am games and earned an Olympic berth in Rio 2016, where he placed 13th.

Currently, Max is training on the national team, based out of Victoria, along with his younger brother Aaron.

We’ve got a pretty good tally going of our head-to-head races over the years. They are few and far between whenever we get to go in the spotlight so Mom and Dad will have to at the upcoming championships.

With his sights set on Tokyo 2020, Lattimer and I discuss the 2018 Canada Cup, the current landscape of rowing across the country, how he would like to see the sport grow, and what legacy is he hoping to leave behind.
